A soft clunk came from the tube as 'Enehana set the device into the semblance's resting place. With a wave of Nemir's hand, a silver light glistened from the slots in its body. As the device glowed and glistened, both their eyes glanced up from where the device sat to the semblance as it flickered.
The semblance’s smoke was faint and barely visible for a moment. Nemir and 'Enehana both winced, but then, the semblance shone bright as the clouds grew thicker! Nemir and 'Enehana both grinned and glanced at each other, then their eyes went wide as a door slammed open behind them.
"So, is that device workin' or not?" Ermit huffed as he stormed in, his brows knitted tight together.
Nemir chuckled and swept to the side. "See for yourself."
Ermit sat himself between 'Enehana and Nemir, and slowly gasped as the semblance shone brighter while the tiny wisp gathered even more clouds by the second! The clouds fused together in the semblance's heart. They expanded and consolidated until they formed into a small, shimmering blue orb surrounded by dark, thick clouds right before Ermit's eyes!
He oohed and aahed for a tiny moment, yet glanced to his sides as both Nemir and 'Enehana gasped before him. Ermit nodded a bit as he took in their wide smiles, and found a weak smile of his own as he sat and basked in the growing semblance—but once more the door slammed open! His beard hairs stood on end as his ears jumped up to the top of his head.
"Hey, everyone!" Luz called as all eyes turned on him. He waved a bit for a moment, and gently elbowed Fintster who walked in after him. "We're just about ready to meet that Oracle now, and the high priest says she needs everyone on board!"
"So, you better hurry up and finish what you've got here," Fintster added as he smirked. "After all, we don't want you getting left in the dark and all!"
Luz and Fintster both snickered at each other, and behind them Nemir just smiled and shook his head. The two of them propped the door open as Nemir and 'Enehana rose from their seats and joined them. All four raised their brows at Ermit, as if they prompted him to join. But, as Ermit just sat and watched the growing semblance, they merely shrugged and left.
Luz clapped his hands as they reached the outside out of the robot's storage, and whisked them away in a flash. Their feet hit the signature warm, slightly-worn metal of the Dread-Yacht before the light even faded. They stood amid the others as the high priest preached with not a word spoken, but their glances welcoming enough. The high priest beckoned them in, and they consolidated into the group as the high priest cleared her throat.
"Anyways, as I was saying," the high priest explained as she stretched her hands wide. Her claws glistened as they spread up to the evening sun. "The Oracle is, in many ways, like a feeling. If we wish to receive his guidance, all we have to do is center our minds around him, and if he feels our cause is worthy, he will heed our prayers and come! Now come, gather together and link hands, and think about nothing but the Oracle!"
Nemir and 'Enehana grabbed hands, and linked with Luz and Fintster as they all huddled in close. Around them, the others linked hands the best they could; the Elder Elementals gingerly held fingers out to the smaller beings on board so they didn't crush them, and others gripped hands as tightly as they could. All eyes closed, some breathed deep, and for a moment, a strange feeling, something numbing but not quite in a sickly or anxious way, came over the group.
Their breathing stilled as their shoulders slumped, but despite how relaxed they all seemed, their grip on each other's hands didn't release any. In fact, it seemed as though they squeezed even harder as the high priest hummed ancient songs in languages long forgotten under her breath.
Then, a cold wind blew through! All at once their eyes opened wide. Some even stopped to pat their chests, just to make sure their hearts were still intact!
Nemir helped 'Enehana up as they lost their grip and stumbled forward, and he blinked as he turned to his side.
They no longer stood atop the Dread-Yacht, no. in fact, it seemed like they weren't even in Skylands anymore! Instead, they stood within some kind of void that was painted in sparkly shades of blues and yellows one moment, purples and whites the next, and even more shades and hues as the world around continually shifted in color.
For a moment, some parts even changed to colors that didn't even seem like colors, and rendered the world disorienting enough that keeping balance was a struggle. No smells came from around, not even the breeze could be felt, but, despite the ever-shifting colors and the seeming blankness of the world around, there was one constant.
A soft voice beckoned from the distance at a volume just loud enough to be heard. "Come… Come here… Come to me…" it whispered, its voice soft and reverberating as the colors shifted once more.
Chihiro blinked and turned back to the rest of the group. "Did you hear that?" she asked.
"Yes, yes!" the high priest proclaimed as she beamed widely and folded her hands. "That must be the Oracle! Come, follow that voice!"
Consolidating into a solid group, they all crowded forward—but it didn't feel as though they were in control of their own bodies. No, the droning noises of the voice piloting them forward, and pulled them ahead like puppets on strings as they walked. Their eyes tensed for a bit as some cast glances at the world around them, still as ever-changing and infinite as before…
But then, a sharp stop came from the front.
"Wait, I think I see a door over there!" Chihiro cried as she pointed towards a beam of white light that pierced the rainbows in front of her.
The rainbow of shifting colors brightened and shifted as all eyes followed the white light, and the white light in turn shone brighter, consolidating into a solid, white door! The door shone brighter as they approached, and practically begged them to draw forward. A doorknob formed from its front As Chihiro reached out a hand towards it, and when that knob twisted open, the bright lights of the door leaped forth!
The light shone over and drowned out the world around as everyone shouted and cried out before it completely enveloped even them in its grip. It was then that the light faded, and they all disappeared as the world returned to its ever-shifting colors.
